Arb Volunteer Work Event - Garlic Mustard Pull!

Sat, May 18, 2024 • 9:00am - 12:00pm (3h) • Arboretum Office, 710 Three Oaks Drive, Northfield, MN

Help restore the forests Lower Arboretum by removing Garlic Mustard.  This invasive plant takes up  space in our forests that should be home to native wildflowers and can change the soil chemistry making it less welcoming to native plants and inhibiting tree seedling recruitment. Fortunately we have a secret weapon - our volunteers! We will be pulling and bagging this plant to take off site to prevent seed spread. Wear clothes that can get dirty - we suggest long pants, long sleeves, and closed toe shoes and socks. We will have gloves to provide but if you have a favorite pair you might want to bring them.

We will be working at the far end of the Arboretum where there is limited parking so we ask that you meet at the Arboretum office to consolidate cars.  Students can expect to catch a ride from Arboretum staff or a volunteer.
